Megumin was a
wicked wizard who lived alone in a dark, stormy castle on top of Blackthorn
Hill. He was feared across the land for his powerful spells and terrible
temper. With a single wave of his staff, he could make trees wither, rivers
freeze, and skies turn black. People from nearby villages never dared to go
near his home. Megumin liked it that way. He believed kindness was a weakness,
and power was the only thing that mattered.
But one night, as
thunder roared above his castle, Megumin found a lost child crying near his
gate. The boy had no fear in his eyes—only sadness. Something inside Megumin
began to stir. Instead of scaring the child away, he used his magic to create a
warm fire and food. The boy smiled and thanked him. For the first time in
years, Megumin felt a warmth he had long forgotten. That night, the wicked
wizard realized that real power wasn’t in dark magic—but in a single act of
kindness.
