Deep inside a warm, green forest lived a beautiful bird-of-paradise named Luma. Her feathers shone in many colors—red, blue, yellow, and gold. All the animals loved to watch Luma dance in the morning sun. But even though she was beautiful, Luma was very kind. She always shared her food and helped any animal who needed her.
One dry season, the forest had very little water. The small animals were scared and thirsty. Luma felt sad for them, so she flew far away to look for a clean water spring. She flew over hills, trees, and rivers until she finally found a clear spring hidden under a big rock. Luma quickly returned to the forest and guided all her friends to the spring.
The animals cheered and thanked Luma. “You saved us!” said the rabbit. Luma smiled and shook her colorful feathers. “Beauty is not the most important thing,” she said softly. “A kind heart is the most special gift of all.” From that day on, every animal in the forest loved Luma not just for her colors, but for her kindness and courage.
