My town is getting more crowded. Many people come from other towns to get jobs here. Some of them stay with their families who live here for so long, but some others build new houses. It makes open areas, such as rice fields, turn into residential areas.
Unfortunately, some people who don’t have enough money build houses in the riverbanks. They do activities in the river, such as taking a bath, washing, even throwing trash in the river. It pollutes the water and creates sewage blockages. The water also turns dirty.
In the rainy season, when the rain falls heavily, the river can’t handle the strong water flow. The flood will be everywhere. The water goes to the streets and residential areas. Inadequate drainage channels worsen flooding.
What should people do now? They should not build houses in the riverbanks and pollute the water. The drainage channels must be repaired, so the water can flow well. Let’s save our environment from floods.
